Still Waters have gauged quite a few high hills and mountains so far. The kind that not many bands have
reached, at least, as far as the Rock n' Roll scene in India is concerned. And taking into consideration how quickly they achieved all this, oh hell yeah...it's darn
IMPRESSIVE!!!

*** The Great Indian Rock (GIR-6) Fest-2002
This is where it all began. The first step that Still Waters
took on their journey towards speedy success. "Happy Go Lucky" was their track that made it to the GIR-6 CD and landed them performing in front of a 5 to 6 thousand strong screaming and rocking crowd in Delhi; sharing the stage with
eleven other great bands in India. And it's a fact that not too many people know but, the GIR gig was just S/W's (the band)
second stage appearance ever. That was March-2002. And after that, as they say, is history. " Thanx RSJ !!! "

*** The DD-2 Feature
Presentation On getting back home (Gangtok) from GIR, the band had
a pleasant surprise waiting for them as the word about their extremely impressive performance at GIR had spread like fire
eating up a dry forest. Not barely two days had passed since their arrival back home that they were tracked down by the DD-2(the
T.V channel) people who wanted to do a feature on the band for their "Apna Adda" program. And as such, it was all shot, packed
and shown.n T.V in the next coupla' days.

*** The Felicitations Having been the first band from the state Sikkim to have ever made it this big, the Academy Of Fine Arts - Sikkim
felicitated them at a formal ceremoney. Even generally, it showered on them the honour that very few people/personalities
from the state are lucky enough to get bestowed upon. And call this coincidence, irony or even
"luck" for that matter, this event was followed by another one of the same nature. Except the fact that this time it came
from "Udisha: the Non Govt' Organizations' Association of Sikkim". So here it was...absolute respect, admiration and
importance given and approved to the band for such a culture of contrasts like Rock n' Roll by all social factions of a state
in a country like India. A rare victory of sorts for the Rock fraternity of the entire nation. Impressive or what eh???
*** Extensive
Media Coverage
Still
Waters is no new player as far as handling the the all-powerful (by certain
standards) media is concerned. Irrespective of the nature of the media; weather it's of the print or the television or the
internet kind, S/W's been through all of them. They (the band-members) have been interviewed quite a few times by Gangtok's
local T.V channels as well as some major national channels like B4U Music (courtesy; the GIR-6 fest selection) and DD-2. Much
coverage on the main regional weeklys n' dailies like NOW, Yo!, Weekend Review and more prominents ones like The Statesman,
Hindustan Times, The Sun etc' have been given in print as well. Their songs have been played coupla' times by All India
Radio (Shillong and Guwahati) as well. And " Happy Go Lucky " being the most frequently played pne. HOWEVER,
an utmost special mention must be given to RSJ
for it's unconditional support. RSJ
gave Still Waters the biggest honours ever by putting up the band as part of a cover story on one of it's issues,
by appointing them as the "Band In Focus" on rsjonline.com (Oct' 2002) and (the biggest one) by nominating S/W on their
annual ratings in the "Best Indian Band" category amongst other heavy-weights like Parikrama, Pentagram, Agni etc. FOR A BAND
JUST A YEAR AND A HALF OLD (at that time), SUCH HONOUR(s) BESTOWED UPON IT WAS, IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE UNBELIEVABLE !!! "Thanks a million RSJ !!!"

a few great albums by other Indian rock bands in the same manner before. However, with this, Still

The Debut Album: " Such A Long Time..."
Well,
as mentioned already, a review of the album had been put in print on one of the monthly issues of RSJ, the Rock n' Roll
Bible of India. Well then, this is it : " Still Waters is one of those
bands that are firmly rooted in grass-roots rock n' roll and proudly carry the flag of great rockers in the traditional mould
of icons like Styx, Iron Maiden and Scorpions to name just a few. Unabashedly treading a well worn path of loud riff-rock,
pounding drums and some great singing, Still Waters have recorded an album that has all the ingredients of a grass-roots hard
rock multiplatinum hit album. The album launches with "Life In A Bottle", and by the time you get mid-way to the guitar solo
break, you get hit by the fact that the guitar player Sonam is one of the most underrated guitar players in the country. Playing
fluid solos effortlessly and creating great melodic riffs to hold the rythm structures together, he lays the foundation on
which Sameer (rythm), Netra (drums), Suman (bass) nail the rythm section with some very competent playing and let Ananth launch
into his soaring vocals. The album also features "Happy Go Lucky" as the lead single on side B, and many of you may have heard
this track on "Dirty Dozen (GIR Vol.6)". Well, if you've heard this song it's a good represantative of what this album is
about. Feel-good high-energy rock n' roll played well! " Guess that says it all right?...cool!!!
