 Moments Of Glory

Still Waters  have gauged quite a few high hills and mountains so far. AND HERE ARE SOME OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ONES.

Still Waters headed for Mumbai as an invited participant for MTV's show "F1 Taking Pole Position"
7th - 24th Oct' 2011
Still Waters headed for Mumbai as an invited participant for MTV's show "F1 Taking Pole Position" after being chosen amongst over 300 bands and summoned (by MTV) as one of the TOP 8 bands from all ovr India gud enuff to OPEN  for METALLICA at their upcoming concert in Delhi! Onstage @ The Hard Rock Cafe - Mumbai, one round led to another and SW was declared a finalist with only Guillotine (Delhi) left to compete with on Oct' 24th!!! The judges finally handed the "Pole Position" to Guillotine on grounds that their compositions were relatively HEAVIER that SW's and hence more suited for the MetallicA crowd!!!
HOWEVER, Still Waters hit the jackpot when the band was invited for a special interview and shoot for an exclusive episode on the tv show "MTV-Roots" with VJ Nikhil Chinappa...the ONLY band from the 8 the Pole Position gig!!!

STILL WATERS @ MTV ROOTS (25th Nov), Friday!!!
An entire 1/2hr special episode with interview (with Nikhil Chinnappa) and live performance at the studio as well!
P.S: This makes S.W the first ever band/artist from the entire North-Eastern region of India!!!

The popular national youth magazine Ecelectic Vibes ran a major 4 page feature on Still Waters on their November (2011) issue!!!

STILL WATERS IS SELECTED FOR The Great Indian Rock (GIR) fest 2010 at Kolkata on the 17th of December 2010!!! This makes S.W the only band ever the Sikkim, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Kurseong etc region, so far, that's been chosen to play at GIR "TWICE"!!!!

Great Indian Rock (GIR-6) Fest-2002

This is where it all began. The first step that Still Waters took on their journey towards speedy success. "Happy Go Lucky" was their track that made it to the GIR-6 CD and landed them performing in front of a 5 to 6 thousand strong screaming and rocking crowd in Delhi. The GIR gig was just S/W's (the band) second stage appearance ever. That was March-2002. And after that, as they say, is history.

The Felicitations
Having been the first band from the state Sikkim to have ever made it this big, the Academy Of Fine Arts - Sikkim felicitated them at a formal ceremoney. T
his event was followed by another one from "Udisha: the Non Govt' Organizations' Association of Sikkim". Respect, admiration and importance given and approved to the band. A rare victory of sorts for the Rock fraternity of the entire nation.

The DD-2 Feature Presentation
On getting back home (Gangtok) from GIR, the band had a pleasant surprise waiting for them as not barely two days had passed since their arrival back home the DD-2(the T.V channel) people wanted to do a feature on the band for their "Apna Adda" program. And as such, it was all shot, packed and shown.n T.V in the next coupla' days.

The Debut Album: " Such A Long Time..."
Well, as mentioned already, a review of the album had been put in print on one of the monthly issues of RSJ, the Rock n' Roll Bible of India. Well then, this is it :
" Still Waters is one of those bands that are firmly rooted in grass-roots rock n' roll and proudly carry the flag of great rockers in the traditional mould of icons like Styx, Iron Maiden and Scorpions to name just a few. Unabashedly treading a well worn path of loud riff-rock, pounding drums and some great singing, Still Waters have recorded an album that has all the ingredients of a grass-roots hard rock multiplatinum hit album. The album launches with "Life In A Bottle", and by the time you get mid-way to the guitar solo break, you get hit by the fact that the guitar player Sonam is one of the most underrated guitar players in the country. Playing fluid solos effortlessly and creating great melodic riffs to hold the rythm structures together, he lays the foundation on which Sameer (rythm), Netra (drums), Suman (bass) nail the rythm section with some very competent playing and let Ananth launch into his soaring vocals. The album also features "Happy Go Lucky" as the lead single on side B, and many of you may have heard this track on "Dirty Dozen (GIR Vol.6)". Well, if you've heard this song it's a good represantative of what this album is about. Feel-good high-energy rock n' roll played well!"

Nominated for the Best Indian Rock Band 2002-2003 by RSJ                                                                                                                                  RSJ  gave Still Waters the biggest honours ever by putting up the band as part of a cover story on one of it's issues, by appointing them as the "Band In Focus" on rsjonline.com (Oct' 2002) and (the biggest one) by nominating S/W  on their annual ratings in the "Best Indian Band" category amongst other heavy-weights like Parikrama, Pentagram, Agni etc.

Extensive Media Coverage                                                          Still Waters  have been interviewed and featured by Gangtok's local T.V channels as well as some major TV channels like MTV, Star World, B4U Music and DD-2.
Much coverage on the main regional weeklys n' dailies like NOW, Yo!, Weekend Review and more prominents ones like The Statesman, Hindustan Times, The Sun etc' have been given in print as well.
Their songs have been played coupla' times by All India Radio (Shillong and Guwahati) as well. And " Happy Go Lucky " being the most frequently played one.
And a very special mention must be given to  RSJ  for their unconditional support.

4th September 2006:
GREENOZONE.COM comes up with an online compilation album called "Awake and Arise", dedicated to the victims of the recent bomb-blasts in Mumbai. "Live a little" has been selected as S.W's contribution to the album. It's the first song on the album which also features their peers and well known Indian bands like "Them Clones" (Delhi) and "Cassini's Division" (Kolkata).

13th September 2006:
GREENOZONE re-released the debut album "Such A Long Time..." online thru their website. Greenozone has already released quite a few great albums by other Indian rock bands in the same manner before. However, with this, Still Waters becomes the first band ever, from the north-east, to have an online release. Another major feather in the cap of the band!!!
