Still Waterscomposing original music, a very uncommon trait considering the ages-old trend for rock
bands to perform only cover versions of other international artists at that time.
One
jam-session led to another and hardly a month later they landed up recording “Farsighted Woman”, their
first single ever. The song got lots of positive vibes and reviews from everybody and that encouraged the trio to form a proper
full-fledged band. So, Netra and Sameer (Bunny) were recruited as the Drummer and Rhythm Guitarist respectively. And that
was when the band was named “Still Waters ”.
Coming
from a humble and simple place like Sikkim, they were a bunch of simple guys committed to their music. And though they were
the total entertainment package onstage, off it...none of them reflected the stereotypical “Rock Star” attitude
and “flashiness”. Hence they derived the band’s name from the age-old saying “Still Waters
Run Deep”!!!
Then
followed the recording of two more numbers “Happy Go Lucky” and “Live A Little”.
Shortly after that, the most important event that started and shaped the successful career of Still Waters came up! The song
“Happy Go Lucky” was selected to be on the prestigious Great Indian Rock (GIR-6) CD and eventually, S.W
got to perform at the GIR concert in Delhi! And this gig was, at that time, only
the SECOND onstage appearance of Still Waters. And top it all, SW was hardly 6-7 months old!
And since then,
there has been no looking back for the band!
Currently, Still Waters is alive, kickin' and givin' more heavy-duty assault to their fans all around!
